Biography

Dr. Xiaohe (Jessie) Jin is a prominent scientist with a multidisciplinary background in chemistry and biotechnology, bolstered by over seven years of experience in both academic and industrial fields. Dr. Jin earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from North Carolina State University, where her research significantly advanced the understanding of cyanobacteria-dominated holobionts. She successfully isolated and sequenced the genome of Porphyrobacter sp. HT-58-2, revealing the co-localization and metabolic relationship between the bacterium and its host cyanobacterium. Her work employed advanced bioinformatics tools to identify and analyze biosynthetic gene clusters of multiple natural products, including those responsible for synthesizing bioactive compounds such as tolyporphins and tolypodiols, which have potent photodynamic properties effective against tumor cells. Currently, she is a Scientist I at Atom Bioworks Inc., where she leads the research team focusing on the development of DNA biosensor-based lateral flow devices and lipid nanoparticle systems for applications in rapid disease diagnostics and targeted drug delivery.
