Biography
Samir Kumar Bhowmik has been working as a professor in the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, University of Dhaka (DU), Bangladesh since February, 2018. He earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree from DU in Mathematics. It is to mention that he joined DU in March, 2001 as a lecturer. He pursued Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK in 2008. Then he continued his research as a Post-doctoral researcher atKorteweg-de Vries Institute for Mathematics, University of Amsterdam, Netherlands from October 2008 to September 2010 before joining back to DU in 2010. In 2013 he moved to the Department of Mathematics, IMSIU, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a visiting faculty and worked there till May 2016. He has more than 14 years research and teaching experience. He has been guiding two Ph.D students. He has published about 40 research papers in refereed international journal of repute.In 2018, he joined the editorial board of GANIT, a leading National journal published by Bangladesh Mathematical Society. His research interest includes mathematical and numerical analysis, mathematical biology, computational finance, scientific computing, wave propagation, seismic imaging, numerical linear algebra.
Qualifications
• Post doctoral research, KdV Institute for Mathematics, University of Amsterdam (2008-2010)
• PhD from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK in 2008
• M.Sc. from University of Dhaka in 1998session (exam held in 2000).
