Biography

Dr. Antonina Mutoro is a registered nutritionist and an honorary research fellow at the University of Glasgow. She holds a PhD in Human Nutrition (2018) and a MSc in Human Nutrition, clinical nutrition specialization (2011), from the University of Glasgow. She also has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science, Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Nairobi (2009).

She has an interest in infant and young child nutrition and food systems and is currently managing a project which aims to make food systems in African countries resilient, equitable and sustainable. Her previous research focused on risk factors for undernutrition in children and adolescents in informal settlements in Nairobi, Kenya, the nutrition quality of pre-packaged foods marketed to children in United Kingdom and South American countries.

She has worked closely with government, local and international non-governmental and community-based organizations in Kenya and has participated in research groups meetings such as the Nutrition Technical Working Group which is run by the Nutrition Division in the Ministry of Health in Kenya. Antonina has excellent project management, networking and research skills including research tool development, data collection, analysis and synthesis of both qualitative and quantitative data
