Biography
Antons Patlins (Latv. Antons Patļins) was born in Riga and is a Latvian scientist, researcher, expert, consultant, and artist (painter, actor with over 20 years of experience on stage, recipient of numerous diplomas in various competitions), inventor, trainer, lecturer, and motivator—a true exemplar of the "Renaissance man." An IEEE Member, Antons Patlins has contributed significantly to academic research with over 100 scientific publications. His areas of interest are diverse, encompassing transport, supply chains, economics, electrical engineering, control algorithms, electronics, information and communication technologies, as well as educational sciences and geography. In social sciences—economics, geography, educational sciences, and entrepreneurship—Antons Patlins' insights have greatly contributed to the broader social and economic impact of social science research. His expertise enhances his problem-solving capabilities, merging theoretical knowledge with practical application. His research also pertains to sustainable development, including the sustainable development of public transport systems, IT issues, planning, monitoring, efficiency analysis, and sustainability and motivation in the educational process.
Under Antons Patlins' mentorship, more than 115 students have completed bachelor's theses, engineering theses, and master's theses at Riga Technical University (RTU). He has served as a scientific advisor and consultant for many RTU students, and for others, a reviewer.
Since September 1, 2021, he has been supervising the doctoral thesis: "Development of an IoT-based precision agriculture system using machine learning technologies" (Doctoral student: Artūrs Ķempelis).
He was also a member of the steering committee from Latvia for COST Action no. CA16232 "European Energy Poverty: Agenda Co-Creation and Knowledge Innovation" from 2017 to 2021 (Management Committee member from Latvia). COST Action No. CA21127, titled "Techno-economic Analysis of Carbon Mitigation Technologies (TrANsMIT)," commenced on 07/10/2022 and will conclude on 06/10/2026. He serve on the management committee representing Latvia and participate in various working groups.
He serves as an expert for the Latvian Academy of Sciences/Latvian Council of Science in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics, information and communication technologies, economics, geography, and educational sciences. He frequently engages in international exchange programs and scientific missions. He is a regular participant in international scientific conferences, presenting reports. Over several years (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022), he has received awards and diplomas for being the most conscientious reviewer at the RTUCON international scientific conference, hosted by Riga Technical University.
Now he is working as Leading Researcher at Riga Technical University.
