Biography

James Michael Brimson graduated from the University of the West of England with a degree in applied genetics in 2006. During his undergraduate degree, James spent a year in the research lab of Prof. Gregorio Gil at Virginia Commonwealth University, working on the study of cholesterol metabolism. James then took a PhD scholarship in the UK at the University of Bath in the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, graduating in 2010. James’ thesis covered the pharmacology of the sigma-1 receptor and identified several novel ligands. James spent several years as a post-doctoral fellow in the lab of Asst. Prof Tewin Tencomnao working on identifying novel sigma-1 receptor active compounds found in natural product extracts. James is now a faculty member in the research unit “Research Innovation and International Affairs” in the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University. James has been a member of the British Pharmacological Society and is currently a member of the biochemical Society, and ISTAART.
