Biography

Dr. Dustakar Surendra Rao is a distinguished academic now holding the position of Associate Professor at the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). He is an alumnus of Government Polytechnic, Anantapuram, where he obtained his Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from JBREC, affiliated with JNTUH, and subsequently acquired his M.Tech in VLSI System Design from the same university.

Motivated by a fervour for research, Dr. Rao became a part-time researcher at KLEF and successfully obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. His study is on "Depth Data-Assisted Human Action Recognition Utilising Deep Learning."

His research interests encompass Image Processing, Computer Vision, Deep Learning, and low-power VLSI Design. He has actively contributed to the academic community by publishing 14 research publications and presenting 6 indexed conference papers, with further works in process.

Dr. Rao is a Fellow of the IETE and IE and an active participant in professional organisations such as IEEE, IETE, and IE. His commitment to teaching is demonstrated by his substantial contributions—he has presented approximately 80 guest lectures at diverse technical universities. Throughout the years, he has instructed many undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Image Processing, CMOS VLSI Design, IoT, and Embedded Systems, some of which he has taught multiple times.

His dedication to academic achievement encompasses laboratory development, as seen by the establishment of the Verilog HDL Lab and Embedded Systems Lab to augment experiential learning for students.

Dr. Dustakar Surendra Rao, driven by a profound love for pedagogy and research, consistently inspires and mentors emerging engineers, significantly advancing the domain of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Summary:

Dr. Dustakar Surendra Rao is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). He completed his Diploma in ECE from Government Polytechnic, Anantapuram, followed by a Bachelor’s degree and M.Tech in VLSI System Design from JBREC, JNTUH. He later obtained his Ph.D. from KLEF, specializing in Depth Data-Assisted Human Action Recognition Using Deep Learning.

Dr. Rao has delivered 80 guest lectures and has taught various undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Image Processing, CMOS VLSI Design, IoT, and Embedded Systems. His contributions extend to laboratory development, having established the Verilog HDL Lab and Embedded Systems Lab.

With a strong passion for teaching and research, he continues to mentor and inspire future engineers in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
