Biography

Cheshta Arora is a researcher, writer and ethnographer studying socio-technical systems in the contemporary. Cheshta holds a PhD from the National Institute of Advanced Studies/Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India. She has recently joined Technology and Society group at the Vestlandforsking/Western Norway Research Institute as a senior researcher. She is also a co-PI on an independent project called 'Audit AI4SG' funded by the Tech Ethics Lab/University of Notre Dame.

Research interests and specializations: Critical New Media Studies, Social approaches to ML/AI, Content Moderation and mis-, dis-, mal- information, CSCW, Critical Internet/Data/Information/Algorithm Studies, Media Studies, Science and Technology Studies, Urban Studies, Work/Labour, Feminist Techno-Science Studies, 20th Century French Philosophy, New Materialism, Object-Oriented Ontology.
