Biography
I am an innovative bioscientist with over 16 years of multidisciplinary experience spanning Africa, Asia, and North America, specifically in Ghana, China, Singapore, and Canada. I hold a Ph.D. in Molecular Virology from the National University of Singapore, an M.Sc. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Xiamen University, China, and a B.Sc. (Hons, 2:1) in Biochemistry from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.
Currently, I serve as a Visiting Professor at the University of Manitoba, with my research based at the St. Boniface Hospital Research Centre in Canada. My work focuses on exploring naturally derived molecules for managing infectious diseases and chronic conditions, as well as investigating functional foods and their ingredients derived from ancient food products. This research aims to harness the health benefits of traditional foods, contributing to the development of novel therapeutic strategies.
Throughout my career, I have led research on host-pathogen-environment interactions and the potential use of biomolecules as antimicrobial adjuvants, particularly targeting antimicrobial-resistant bacteria. My work also encompasses the study of immunomodulatory agents against medically significant microbes and foodborne pathogens, including those affecting aquaculture animals.
I have a strong commitment to education, with over a decade of teaching experience, fostering student engagement and academic success. My scholarly contributions include over 50 peer-reviewed publications, reflecting an h-index of 24, and I have successfully secured substantial extramural funding to support my research endeavors.
My professional journey is driven by a passion for advancing scientific knowledge and developing innovative solutions to global health challenges. I am dedicated to mentoring the next generation of scientists and translating research findings into practical applications that benefit society.
