Biography
I am an infectious disease epidemiologist aiming to help public health stakeholders design effective disease prevention and control programs. My research program evaluates diseases at the interface of humans, animals, and the environment through assessing geographic differences in disease rates with respect to their infectious, environmental, genetic, socioeconomic, and demographic risk factors. To accomplish our research goals we use disease maps, spatial and temporal statistics, multilevel regression models, and molecular epidemiology methods. My current research is focusing on food-borne pathogens (i.e. Salmonella, Campylobacter, E. coli (STEC) ) and their individual and area-level risk factors. I am also involved in research studies that evaluate antimicrobial resistance in commensal and zoonotic enteric pathogens, and in studies that investigate wildlife, livestock, and small animal infectious diseases.
