Biography
Dr. Xue is an Assistant Professor at the College of Education, Zhejiang Normal University (ZJNU), China. Prior to joining ZJNU, he obtained his PhD in Science Education from the University of Dundee, UK, in 2023. His research interests lie in science education, particularly the nature of the scientific model, modeling-based teaching, and learning.
Dr. Xue's recent projects focus on three main areas:
1. Modeling competence in science education
2. Virtual Labs vs. Hands-on Labs in enhancing learners' scientific literacy
3. Utilizing machine learning for analyzing teachers' discourse practices
Dr. Xue is actively engaged with the global science education community and collaborates with a diverse team of scholars from Canada, Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Germany, and the UK. His work aims to bridge theoretical insights with practical applications, fostering a deeper understanding of science education across various educational contexts.
Dr. Xue has published articles in well-established journals, such as Research in Science Education and the Journal of Science Education and Technology. His conference papers have been accepted and presented at international conferences, including AERA, NARST, ICCE, and GCCCE. He also serves as an in-house reviewer for the International Journal of Early Years Education and reviews for Research in Science Education.
