Biography
Researcher at the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design, San Sebastián University, Chile. Adjunt Researcher in the Center for Social Conflict and Cohesion Studies (COES). Principal Investigator in research project funded by Chile’s Fund of Science and Technology (Fondecyt), and Co-Investigator in partnership project with Rutgers University, USA.
I have a PhD degree in Urban Planning from University College London (2009). Also, Architect (1998) and Master in Urbanism (2004) from the University of Chile, with a specialization in comparative urban studies by the University of Amsterdam (2011). My work has focused on urban planning, urban land and housing, patrimonial and socio-environmental effects of urban development, and gentrification, with various research projects and publications on these matters.
Between 2015 and 2019, I was the National Coordinator of the Advanced Human Capital Program, Urban Planning and Geography area, of the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID). Between 2012 and 2017, I was the Director of the Chile Node of the Contested_Cities Project. I actively participated in elaborating the National Urban Development Policy of Chile between 2012 and 2015.
