Biography
Isaac Akinwumi is an educator, researcher, administrator and innovation coach. He is also an Associate Professor with over 15 years of teaching and research experience at Covenant University. His research focuses on Geotechnical Engineering (soil improvement), construction materials, water supply, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), waste management and climate change. He is proficient in Human-Centered Design and Sustainable Development concepts. He is an author/co-author of over 70 peer-reviewed scientific publications, with 63 indexed in the Scopus database (having an h-index of 18). He was a Co-Investigator on three Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng), UK Seed Grants. He has supervised and supervising Master’s degree students and PhD Students, served as PhD External Examiner and grant reviewer. He served as the Pioneer Technical Chair of the International Conference on Sustainable Infrastructural Development (ICSID 2019 and ICSID 2020). He also served as the Conference Chair of the 2022 Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Institution of Geotechnical Engineers (NIGE). He was also the Chairman of the Technical Advancement Committee of the Nigerian Institution of Geotechnical Engineers (NIGE). He served as the Director of the International Office and Linkages at Covenant University from February 2022 to November 2024. He was one of the Facilitators and Judges at the 2022 UNLEASH Innovation Lab in Mysore, India and 2023 UNLEASH Innovation Lab in Kigali, Rwanda, an innovation lab that annually brings together 1000 talents from over 100 countries to find solutions to the pressing global challenges.
