Biography

Noélia Duarte (Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, 2008, University of Lisbon) is an Assistant Professor at FFULisboa. In addition to teaching and students supervising activities, N. Duarte has also experience in research. Her teaching areas are Instrumental Methods of Analysis, Natural Products Chemistry and Structural Identification of Organic Compounds. She has expertise in several chromatographic, spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques such as HPLC and HPLC-MS, GC, UV, FTIR and NMR. N. Duarte research work has been focus on the isolation and structural characterization by spectroscopic techniques of bioactive chemical scaffolds from plants, in particular the identification of compounds with antitumoral, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities. In addition, she is also interested in Mass Spectrometry studies (LC-ESI-MS/MS) aiming the identification and quantification of various metabolites from plant extracts and biological samples.
