Biography

A lecturer at the Department of Nursing, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. A Registered Nurse with specialization in paediatric nursing. Has over 15years clinical nursing experience and expertise in newborn care. Lydia is also a Registered Dietitian with the Allied Health Professions Council of Ghana. She was a Full-Time Faculty and presently Part-Time faculty and a foundation fellow at the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM).
She started as a Registered Nurse in 2004 after graduating from the Nursing Training College and obtained Diploma in Nursing at the University of Ghana, Legon in 2008. Pursued and graduated with BSc Nursing (Honors) and MSc Advance Nursing Practice at the University of Cape Coast in 2010 and 2015 respectively. Also graduated in 2018 with MSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics at KNUST following her passion for healthy eating. In 2019, became a paediatric nurse after studying at the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives. She passed the Dietetics Licensing examination in 2021 and became a Registered Dietitian. She graduated in November 2024 with PhD in Health Sciences with Nursing Science at the North-West University in South Africa focusing on research utilization in clinical nursing and midwifery practice in Ghana.
Lydia won the 2021 Global Research Nurses Qualitative Research Methods Course Competition and has completed the course. She has also won the KNUST College of Health Sciences maiden research grant in 2021 to undertake research in the “Challenges associated with attaining higher education among post-diploma graduate nurses and midwives in Kumasi, Ghana”.
Research interest is in maternal and child health; Nutrition; and Evidence-Based Nursing and Midwifery practice.
