Biography

I am an emerging infectious disease scientist conducting research on zoonotic disease ecology, transmission at the human-animal interface, pathogen diversity, and spillover prediction and prevention. My research uses a combination of ecological, phylogenetic and phylogeographic, human behavioral, spatial, and modeling and computational approaches to test hypotheses and inform policy to prevent and mitigate pandemics. I have deep experience studying bat-borne viruses, but a broad interest in other microbes, parasites and hosts. As a global health professional, I have built long-term collaborations with local scientists, institutions, and other stakeholders to co-design, implement, and improve One Health and Planetary Health programs for disease surveillance and health security. I am a skilled grant writer, science communicator, and mentor.
