Biography
(Frankfurt, 1981) Engineer and Ph.D. in Computer Science specializing in Artificial Intelligence from the University of A Coruña since 2005 and 2010, respectively, has built a remarkable trajectory throughout his career during which he has participated in numerous research projects and enjoyed scholarships from both public and private entities.
Since 2008, he has held various teaching positions, including predoctoral fellow (2008-2009), part-time professor (2010-2012, 2013-2015), Assistant Professor (2015-2020), Lecturer (2020-2021), and Associate Professor (2021-). It is noteworthy that from 2010 to 2015, he combined these positions with private activities in various research projects in various institutions.
Starting from March 16, 2023, he also takes on the role of coordinator for the Master's in Computer Science at the University of A Coruña, solidifying his commitment to education and program management.
His curriculum strongly focuses on Applied Artificial Intelligence and Evolutionary Computing, with over 54 contributions in various journals, 32 of which are indexed in the JCR and 18 in the first quartile. This researcher has left a significant impact with over 1000 citations and an h-index of 15 in the last 5 years.
Furthermore, he has undertaken research stays in highly prestigious groups such as the University of York (Julian H. Miller, 2008), the University of Aveiro (Jose Luis Oliveira, 2010), the Università degli Studi di Parma (Stefano Cagnoni, 2011), and the University of Granada (Óscar Cordón, 2017), enriching his experience and collaborations.
Additionally, his commitment to knowledge transfer is evident in various software registrations, patents, and research projects. Recognized with two six-year terms of valuable research recognition by ANECA, this researcher has a distinguished teaching career, with a recognized five-year period spanning from 2008 to 2018. He has successfully supervised 26 undergraduate projects, 9 master's thesis projects, and two doctoral theses, while currently guiding five doctoral theses at various stages of development.
Moreover, he actively serves as a reviewer for various JCR journals and high-level conferences, such as Biomedical Signal Processing and Control, Soft Computing, IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, and Neurocomputing, among others.
As a member of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technologies, specifically as part of the RNASA-IMEDIR research group, he is also affiliated with the Research Center for Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC-UDC) and the Institute of Biomedical Research of A Coruña (INIBIC). Since 2005, he has been a member of the Professional College of Computer Engineers of Galicia (CPEIG).
