Biography
Mustafa Sezer Erkilinc received the BSc degree from Koç University, Turkey, in 2009, the MSc degree from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Rochester, NY, USA in 2011, and the PhD degree from the Optical Networks Group (ONG) at University College London, UK in 2015, all in electrical and electronics engineering. He is one of the ten recipients of 2015 IEEE Photonics Society Graduate Student Fellowship (given worldwide). Following the completion of his PhD, Sezer worked as a Post-doc Researcher and led a collaborative project with Huawei Technologies, Shenzhen, China until 2018. Sezer continued his career as a Research Associate in Submarine and Core Systems in Photonics Networks and Systems Dept. at Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute, investigating cost-effective solutions for optical access and metro applications. In particular, he focused on simplified coherent receiver architectures for access networks and cost-effective spectrally-efficient optical transceiver designs for metro networks. He has recently moved to Infinera, Sweden as a Principal Engineer to have a leading role in developing the optical integration of pluggable modules in XR Optics project. Sezer is a member of IEEE and SPIE and serves as a reviewer for Opt. Express, Opt. Letters, J. of Lightwave Technology and J. of Electronic Imaging.
