Biography

I studied Psychology at the Humboldt University Berlin (Germany) and the University of Toronto (Canada), graduating in 2002. In 2006 I was awarded a Dr. phil. in Psychology from the University of Potsdam (Germany), for research on eye-movement control in reading. Following a year of post-doctoral research in Potsdam, I moved to Edinburgh (Scotland, United Kingdom) to take up a 5-year tenure-track position as an Academic Fellow in Visual Cognition. In 2010, I was promoted early to a tenured lectureship, followed by promotion to Reader in 2016. In 2017, after 10 years at the University of Edinburgh, I joined the University of Kiel (Germany) as Full Professor in Perception and Cognition.
