Biography

Cirta Tooth qualified as an Optometrist in The Netherlands in 2000. She subsequently moved to Edinburgh, where she works in the Hospital Eye Service (HES) and in private practice. In the HES, she developed her skills in the macular clinic, the paediatric clinic and as clinical lead in the Low Vision clinic. In 2023, she completed her Masters degree in Clinical Optometry (distinction) at Cardiff University, with a project about cerebral visual impairment. She has had the privilege to be mentored by a number of leading experts in the field of low vision and cerebral vision impairment, who encouraged her to engage with the scientific community. She is now a regular author of educational articles for eye care professionals and is involved in teaching and mentoring. She is also actively engaged with charities and support groups within the sight loss sector and holds an associate membership with CVI Scotland. For more information, visit www.cirtatooth.co.uk.
