Biography
Graduated in Biochemical Pharmacy from the Federal University of Goiás (1988), Master in Science (Biology of the Host-Pathogen Relationship) from the University of São Paulo (1993), PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from the Federal University of São Paulo (1997) and Postgraduate -PhD at the Center for Gene Therapy at UNIFESP (2003). He is currently Associate Professor IV of the DMIPP of the Institute of Tropical Pathology and Public Health at the Federal University of Goiás. He has experience in the area of Immuno-Parasitology, with emphasis on Protozoology of Parasites, working mainly on the following topics: Immunobiology of Leishmaniasis (LTA and VL) in the Midwest region, Implementation of a bank of Leishmania sp isolates in the Midwest region (Leishbank), Molecular epidemiology and serological diagnosis of leishmaniasis; Evaluation of the role of IL-32 in the pathogenesis of infection with L. (V.) braziliensis and L. (L.) amazonensis. Worked in the Goiás Network of Basic and Applied Research on Leishmaniasis in the Midwest Region. He has already worked with T cruzi cell biology and malaria seroepidemiology, developing an alternative method for the serological diagnosis of human malaria using rodent plasmodium.
