Dr. Peng Tong, born in July, 1982, is a professor and selected person of "100 Talent Project" of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He graduated and got Ph. D from Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP) of CAS in 2007. From 2007 to 2008, he worked as a postdoc researcher in Prof. Bog-Gi Kim’s group in Pusan National University (South Korea). Thereafter, he moved to the United States, and worked with Prof. Despina Louca in University of Virginia as a research associate for three years. In early 2012, he was invited to join the faculty of ISSP of CAS as a professor. He has published more than 70 research papers in Phys. Rev. Lett., Phys. Rev. B, Appl. Phys. Lett., Scientific Reports and other journals. He is currently taking charge of several research projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation and others.
Dr. Tong’s current research interests include 1) Metallic magnetic functional materials, including those exhibit negative thermal expansion, magnetocaloric effect, magnetoresistance, magnetostriction, and so on. 2) Preparation, structural characterization, and properties manipulation of strongly electronic correlated materials under high magnetic field. 3) Study of the local structure of crystalline functional materials by using x-ray or neutron scattering.
