Biography

Samer Al-Saad is a consultant pathologist at Oslo University Hospital and an associate professor at the Arctic University of Norway (UiT). His areas of special interest include, in addition to general pathology, nephropathology, transplantation pathology, pathology of the heart and lung, endocrine pathology, and gastroenterological pathology.
Al-Saad completed his medical studies at the Ruprecht-Karls University in Heidelberg, Germany, and began his specialization in pathology in Norway, initially at Nordlandssykehuset in Bodø and later at the University of Tromsø. He obtained a PhD in medicine from the University of Tromsø in 2009. His PhD research focused on the prevalence and survival markers in non-small cell lung cancer as a member of the Translational Research Group at the University of Tromsø. In 2022, Al-Saad joined the kidney transplantation pathology unit at Rikshospitalet in Oslo, Norway. He has published over 60 articles in international medical journals in the fields of lung cancer, immunology and angiogenesis, and kidney and heart pathology.
