Biography

After receiving a PhD in Molecular Plant Biology from the University of East Anglia, for work performed at the John Innes Centre, Norwich, UK, I held postdoctoral positions at the University of Cyprus and Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics (CING).
I now hold the position of Senior Scientist / Head of Department at the Molecular Genetics Thalassaemia Department (MGTD) of the CING, where I lead the MGTD Gene Editing and Therapy unit and oversee further translational research, diagnostic, bioinformatic and education activities. I am Associate Professor and course coordinator at the CING Postgraduate School, representative at the National Thalassemia Committee, member of the core-development team of the ITHANET Portal, member of the ClinGen-recognised Hemoglobinopathies Variant Curation Expert Panel, former president of the Cyprus Society of Human Genetics, and member of the Hellenic Society of Gene Therapy and Regenerative Medicine and of the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy.
