Biography

Dr. Praveen Kumar, currently serving as an Associate Professor at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Sciences (IACS) in Kolkata, is a highly accomplished and respected figure in the field of Physics and Material Sciences. With a Ph.D. from the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, Dr. Kumar further honed his expertise during his postdoctoral research in Madrid, Spain, as a Marie Curie Fellow at ISOM, UPM. His professional journey is marked by an illustrious array of accolades, including the prestigious Fullbright Nehru Professional Excellence Fellowship 2023, MRSI Medal 2021, MCAA Societal Impact Award (2019), DAE Young Achiever Award (2019), Micro Internal Travel Grants (MITG), European Commission (2018), BRICS Young Scientist Award (2017), INSPIRE Faculty Award (2014), Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (2012), among others. Dr. Kumar's contributions to the field of Materials Science are both extensive and diverse, encompassing III-V semiconductors, 2D-Materials, MXenes, Carbon Nanostructures, and more. His research findings have far-reaching applications, particularly in the realms of energy harvesting and storage. With a remarkable publication record of 102 articles in peer-reviewed international journals, 04 patents, over 50 conference proceedings, 11 books/chapters, and an impressive portfolio of more than 75 invited talks delivered worldwide, Dr. Kumar is a distinguished leader in the field of Materials Science and an influential member of esteemed organizations like The Global Young Academy (GYA), the National Academy of Sciences (NASI) in India, and the Indian National Young Academy of Sciences (INYAS). His editorial roles at Materials Letters (Elsevier) and Nanotechnology (IOP) Journals, coupled with his leadership of the Career Development Working Group for the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA), underscore his commitment to advancing and disseminating knowledge in the scientific community.
