Biography
After his MSc in 1997 in Mechanical Engineering by the University of Valladolid, Spain, Dr. M. Cacho-Pérez began as an assistant lecturer, teaching Strength of Materials and Structures in the same University. He completed his PhD Thesis in 2010 in numerical methods for plasticity, stability and vibration behaviour 2D steel frames, and obtained the position of Lecturer in 2018.
His research interest is in non-linear modelling and simulation using numerical techniques (Boundary and Finite Element Method), limit behaviour for beam and plate structures, including plasticity and damage and more recently, structural dynamics, monitoring and structural control using mitigation devices. One PhD Thesis have been performed under his supervision: methodologies for the estimation of modal parameters in footbridges in 2017.
As result of his scientific activities, he is author of more than 20 indexed journal papers and more than 17 international conference papers.
Since 2011 he has focused on the analysis of vibrations of slender structures and mitigation devices. He has participated in several projects related to vibration mitigation strategies, oscillations in slender civil structures such as pedestrian bridges. An original application (patented) for adaptive passive devices have been proposed.
