Biography

With a background in psychology and ten years of experience in health services research, I work for the Aberdeen Centre for Evaluation (formerly: Health Service Research Unit) at the University of Aberdeen. Specialising in equity-focused healthcare implementation research, I explore the challenges faced by underserved groups to shape health interventions that are tailored, adaptable, inclusive, and effective for everyone. My approach is multidisciplinary, combining insights from stakeholders, service users, the public, and various disciplines. I am a highly experienced qualitative researcher, particularly in the healthcare organisation context, with ample experience working alongside data scientists to address critical service problems. I also lead HSRU’s public and patient involvement and engagement efforts, viewing this as an essential step towards making healthcare research more democratic and enhancing its practical applicability ('implementability').

As a counselling and psychotherapy trainee supporting individuals in underserved community groups, I have acquired a unique and profound understanding of the biopsychosocial factors influencing well-being.
