Research Interests
1. My research interests focus on understanding the neural mechanisms underlying addiction in order to improve addiction treatment and reduce relapse (especially for ketamine, amphetamine and nicotine). Toward this end, I utilize functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging to understand how brain regions are affected by addiction. My research focuses on integrating psychopharmacological and neuroimaging methods to investigate the treatment of addiction and smoking cessation, and their effects on brain. Considering the high relapse rates in addicts, I am interested in finding most effective strategies for preventing relapse into addictions, with a specific focus on comprehensive and individualized interventions (e.g. combined pharmacotherapy with cognitive behavioral interventions, motivational enhancement therapy).
2. My research also focuses on clinic trials of smoking cessation, such as “Wechat Wequit” program for health care providers and for treatment seeking cigarette smokers, CBT based/ Mindfulness based group therapy for smoking cessation.
3. I am interested in Mindfulness practice. I constantly join in UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center’s Mindful Awareness Practices Classes and Events since 2015.
