Biography
Antonio Di Crescenzo (born in Salerno, Italy) is a full professor of Probability and Mathematical Statistics at the Department of Mathematics, University of Salerno.
He graduated in Computer Science at University of Salerno, in 1988, and got the PhD in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at University of Naples Federico II, in 1996.
He is author of about 100 publications appeared in journals or conference proceedings.
Research interests: stochastic modeling; stochastic processes and applications to biomathematics, queueing systems, reliability theory, aging notions and information measures; first-passage-time problems.
His scientific activity has been part of various Italian research projects (PRIN), being Unit Coordinator for two of them.
He co-organized several International Meetings and participated in more than 60 international scientific meetings, specially in applications of probability, in biomathematics and biocybernetics.
He is a member of the following scientific societies:
- UMI - Unione Matematica Italiana, since 1993,
- Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability, since 1995,
- Gruppo Nazionale per il Calcolo Scientifico (GNCS) of INdAM, since 2000,
- SIMAI - Società Italiana per la Matematica Applicata e Industriale, since 2013,

- Gruppo PRobability In Statistics, Mathematics and Applications (PRISMA), Unione Matematica Italiana, since 2020.
He is member of the Editorial Board of various international journals.
He has been supervisor (or co-supervisor) for the Ph.D. thesis of Maria Longobardi, Barbara Martinucci, Annapatrizia Nastro, Roberta di Cesare, Antonella Iuliano, Serena Spina, Alessandra Meoli, Fabio Travaglino, Luca Paolillo, Paola Paraggio, Verdiana Mustaro (ongoing), Marco Capaldo (ongoing).
