Biography
Roman J. Nowicki MD, PhD, professor in dermatology and allergology
After graduating in medicine (MD qualification) in 1982 from the Medical Academy of Gdansk, Poland. From 1982 to 2002, Dr. Nowicki held the position of Assistant, Senior Assistant, Assistant Professor, and Professor. Dr. Nowicki has received post-graduate training at Fitzwilliam College, the University of Cambridge, Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, UK as well as the Dermatology Department Ludwig Maximilians University, Munich, Germany (The First Otto Braun-Falco Scholarship). Dr. Nowicki’s clinical trial experience has centered on atopic dermatitis, urticaria, epidemiology of superficial mycoses, and evaluating the efficacy of new therapies in dermatology, medical mycology, and skin allergy. He is a member of several national (Polish Dermatological Society, Polish Society of Allergology, Gdansk Science Society) and international societies (European Academy Dermatology and Venereology, European Academy of Allergology, and the Clinical Immunology, American Academy of Dermatology - IFAAD, International Society for Human and Animal Mycology, European Nail Society and European Confederation for Medical Mycology). Since 2004 prof. Nowicki is a chairman of the Section of Dermatology Polish Society of Allergology and since 2014 chairman of the Marine Department of Polish Dermatological Society. Since 2012 he is the Head of the Department of Dermatology, Venereology, and Allergology of the Medical University of Gdansk (MUG) and University Clinical Center (UCC) . Prof. Nowicki is an honorary Doctor of the State Medical University in Grodno (Belarus). He has authored and co-authored more than 500 publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals, and 189 book chapters. He is an Editorial Board member and a regular reviewer for several medical journals. He has been an organizer of the annual International Academy of Dermatology and Allergology meeting since 2004. He has also been an organizer or co-organizer for international meetings for Dermatology and Allergy without Borders (Bialowieza 2014, Grodno - Belarus 2015, 2017, Ustka 2016, Riga-Latvia) 2016, Liepaja -Latvia 2018, 2022, Gdynia 2019-2024).
