Biography

I am a professor on food safety nutrition and global health and am working in the School of Food Sciences and Nutrition, University of Leeds, UK. I started my career as a Research Fellow on mycotoxin and human health research since 2000 in the University of Leeds. Over the years I have built a good track record in epidemiology and biomarker applicational research in the understanding of mycotoxin exposure associated human health risk e.g. cancer and child malnutrition.
My research area has broadened to a wider range of topics related to global food safety and security in the last 10 years. I applied knowledge in epidemiology and toxicology to the evaluation of dietary exposure to toxic food contaminants and associated public health risk. I have served/been serving working group members for the IARC, EFSA on mycotoxin risk evaluation. I hold a honorary leadership position in the China National Centre for Food Safety Risk Assessment. My research have been funded by numerours prestigious funding bodies including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Royal Society UK, The BBSRC, and the Wellcome Trust...
