Şenol Yağdı

Biography

Since March 2022, Dr. Şenol Yağdı has been working as a research assistant at the Institute of Islamic Theological Studies at the University of Vienna, specialising in Islamic religious education, contextual Islamic theology, interreligious hermeneutics and interreligious education. From April to September 2022, he was a team member of the project "Koranschulen in Oberösterreich", which was implemented in cooperation with the Private University College of the Diocese of Linz. His academic journey took him from July 2021 to May 2023 to the Institute of Catechetics and Religious Education at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Graz. During this time he participated in the project "Christian-Islamic Religious Education in Team Teaching", which aimed at the evidence-based development of local theories for the didactics of cooperative religious teaching and learning processes. His tasks included the planning and implementation of interreligious lessons in selected pilot schools, as well as the theoretical exploration of the interreligious habits of the Islamic RE teachers involved in the project. His research focuses on issues related to the theology of religion and religious pedagogy within Islamic theology and religious education in current academic discourse. In his dissertation entitled 'Religious Education Habitus of Islamic RE Teachers: A Reconstructive Study of Collective Frameworks of Orientation in the Context of (Inter-)Religious Education", Senol Yagdi has extensively investigated the pedagogical habits of Islamic religion teachers in the Austrian context. From July 2017 to June 2021, Yağdı worked as a research assistant in the "Integration through Interreligious Education" project at the same institute at the University of Graz. Since 2017, he has been working as a teacher of religious education at various secondary schools in Vienna. In January 2016, Şenol Yağdı was certified by the Austrian Integration Fund as an examiner for German as a foreign language.

His areas of expertise include Islamic religious education, conceptual Islamic theology, interreligious hermeneutics and interreligious education.


Dr. Şenol Yağdı, PhD ist seit März 2022 wissenschaftlicher Assistent am Institut für Islamisch-Theologische Studien der Universität Wien mit den Schwerpunkten Islamische Religionspädagogik, kontextuelle islamische Theologie, interreligiöse Hermeneutik und interreligiöse Bildung. Von April bis September 2022 war er Mitarbeiter im Projekt „Koranschulen in Oberösterreich“, das in Kooperation mit der Privaten Pädagogischen Hochschule der Diözese Linz durchgeführt wurde. Seine akademische Laufbahn führte ihn von Juli 2021 bis Mai 2023 an das Institut für Katechetik und Religionspädagogik der Katholisch-Theologischen Fakultät der Universität Graz. In dieser Zeit arbeitete er im Projekt „Christlich-Islamischer Religionsunterricht im Teamteaching“ mit, dessen Ziel die evidenzbasierte Entwicklung lokaler Theorien zur Didaktik religiös kooperativer Lehr- und Lernprozesse war. Seine Verantwortlichkeiten umfassten die Planung und Durchführung interreligiöser Unterrichtseinheiten an ausgewählten Pilotschulen sowie die theoretische Erschließung des interreligiösen Habitus der am Projekt beteiligten islamischen Religionslehrkräfte. Von Juli 2017 bis Juni 2021 war Yağdı wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter im Projekt „Integration durch interreligiöse Bildung“ am selben Institut der Universität Graz. In seiner Dissertation „ Religionspädagogischer Habitus von islamischen ReligionslehrerInnen in Österreich. Eine rekonstruktive Studie zu kollektiven Orientierungsrahmen im Kontext (inter-)religiösen Lernens“ hat sich Senol Yagdi intensiv mit dem religionspädagogischen Habitus von islamischen Religionslehrer*innen im österreichischen Kontext auseinandergesetzt. Seit 2017 ist er als Religionslehrer an verschiedenen Gymnasien in Wien tätig. Seit Jänner 2016 ist Şenol Yağdı zertifizierter Prüfer für Deutsch als Fremdsprache beim Österreichischen Integrationsfonds.

Seine Arbeitsschwerpunkte sind islamische Religionspädagogik, konzeptionelle islamische Theologie, interreligiöse Hermeneutik und interreligiöse Bildung.
