Biography

Ana Inês Paninho has a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia ¿ Universidade Nova de Lisboa and in 2018 finished her PhD in Sustainable Chemistry entitled Sustainable Intensification Strategies for the Production of Cyclic Carbonates from CO2. This thesis was a join programme with Nova University Lisbon (FCT and ITQBAX), University of Porto and University of Aveiro. Furthermore, this PhD project was a close collaboration between the University of Valladolid – Spain and RWTH Aachen University, Institut für Technische und Makromolekulare Chemie, Aachen- Germany. During this period, she did two internships, the first one at High Pressure Process Group of Prof. Dr. Maria José Cocero (Universidad de Valladolid, Spain). Where different catalytic supports for the efficient synthesis of cyclic carbonates from CO2 and epoxides were prepared, characterized, and applied. Then she was in the Asymmetric Catalysis Group of Prof. Dr. Walter Leitner at the Chair of Technische Chemie und Petrolchemie (ITMC / RWTH - Aachen, Germany) where she learns about the development, the construction, and the functionality of a reaction set-up for the development of continuous CO2 coupling process with epoxides to obtain cyclic carbonates. She has participated in several research projects, working on clean technologies applied to the preparation of microparticles using Supercritical CO2 for pharmaceutical applications. She also did some phase-behavior studies of multicomponent mixtures at critical or near critical conditions. His specific research topics are centered on Clean Chemical Processes, namely process with supercritical fluids applications, especially with CO2 and Green Solvents. In these areas she had more than 18 conferences with poster communication and 10 published articles.
