Biography

I have worked for several years as a researcher in systematic, genetics, evolution and ecology of symbiotic organisms in lichens and how they respond to climate change, most recently at the Museum of Natural History. My background is evolutionary microbiology based on molecular research and important part of my work as a researcher, besides the actual research, has been project managing and planning as well as compiling the collected data into publishable manuscripts. My responsibilities included mainly methodological, microscopical and statistical part of the projects with large portion of the laboratory work. I have great knowledge in optimizing DNA extraction protocols to be able to get DNA from very small amount of the organisms, Sanger sequencing, NGS, as well as advanced stereo- and light microscopy, visualization, bioinformatics (phylogenetics, species delimitation, co-evolution and ecological analyses: R-project, python; Bayesian, GMYC, BEAST, BPP, Parafyt, PACO) and biodiversity. I have significant experience with project management as all researchers do. I project lead with trust and high expectations. I like to plan scientific projects with many ideas of interesting scientific questions, with ability to independently and critically thinking, by pairing enthusiasm for new ideas with the skeptical question, how can we prove that is wrong. Students that are supervise are enthusiastic and successful.

With my great communication skills, teaching experience and knowledge I can coordinate the communication between scientists, authorities, management and public. I have collaborated with NGO organizations working on species diversity protection (EU regulations). I have made a wide international network of both, experts and non-experts in the field of Life Science / Nature protection.

Others would describe me as well organized with the ability to work under pressure, quick learner, problem solving minded. I am a team-player who enjoy open communication, but I have no problems working independently when the situation demands.
