Biography

Aung Ko Win, MBBS, MPH, PhD, AGAF, is an Associate Professor of Genetic Epidemiology and Principal Research Fellow, Deputy Head of the Colorectal Cancer Unit of the Centre for Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, Deputy Lead of Precision Prevention and Early Detection group of the University of Melbourne Centre for Cancer Research at Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre, and Graduate Research Training Coordinator of the Centre for Epidemiology and Biostatistics in The University of Melbourne. He is an Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Emerging Leadership Fellow (2021–25) and Career Development Fellow (2018–21). With the aim of reducing the population cancer burden through precision prevention and early detection, Dr. Win's primary research focuses on colorectal cancer, in particular, examining risk factors for familial and young-onset colorectal cancers, metachronous colorectal cancer and tumour subtypes, and enabling personalised risk assessment by incorporating a wide range of risk factors. His research has generated evidence that has influence national and international clinical guidelines for colorectal cancer screening and familial cancer risk assessments.
