Biography

Clinical Interests:
Dr. Hauser provides expert evaluation and care for individuals with Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders including Parkinsonism, tremor, chorea, dystonia, and restless legs syndrome. Patients may be offered the opportunity to participate in clinical trials and information gained from these trials is utilized to provide cutting edge therapy for patients. Dr. Hauser is an authority on botulinum toxin injections for the treatment of movement disorders, having performed such injections for over 20 years. Botulinum toxin injections are provided for a variety of disorders including cervical dystonia, blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm, and other involuntary movements.

Research Interests:
Dr. Hauser's research focuses on the development of new treatments for Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders including essential tremor, cervical dystonia, blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm, Huntington's disease, and restless legs syndrome. His expertise includes clinical trial design and execution. Dr. Hauser is the lead investigator for several national and international clinical trials and he serves on steering committees for multiple drug development programs and individual clinical trials. Developing medications to slow or stop the progression of neurodegenerative disorders is a top priority.

He is Past Chairman of the Interventional Neurology Section of the American Academy of Neurology, has served on the executive committee of the Parkinson Study Group, and is a member of the steering committee for the NIH (National Institutes of Health) Neuroprotective Exploratory Trials in Parkinson's Disease Program (NET-PD). Dr. Hauser serves as an international leader in the advancement of disease management and utilizes this knowledge to provide the highest quality care to patients, and to educate students, residents, and other physicians.

Dr. Hauser is one of 10 neurologists in Florida to be named in U.S. News and World Report to a highly selective list of America’s Top Doctor’s by achieving national recognition for outstanding work. He is considered to be in the top 1% in the nation in his specialty.
