Biography

Dr. Ali Kashi, an associate professor of Department of Motor Learning and Control, Sport Science Research Institute (SSRI), Tehran, Iran, and currently serve as the deputy of research and post-graduate affairs of this institute (https://ssrc.ac.ir/en/page/56/research-post-graduate-affairs-division) and national director of Special Olympic Iran.
From 2012, I have conducted, directed, and participated in many research projects in the field of sports rehabilitation for special needs individuals, including my own doctoral dissertation on children with Down syndrome, six SSRI-funded research projects on special needs individuals, and more than 10 doctoral dissertations and master’s theses in this field. I have also written a book and translated another on this subject, participated in a fellowship course at the Foro Italico University of Rome, and passed a sports and disability course in the United States to learn more in sport rehabilitation.
One of the main priorities of SSRI is to conduct and support research projects that may benefit special needs individuals. We believe that physical education specialists are duty-bound to develop specialized exercises guidelines for special needs individuals based on the etiology and characteristics of each disorder in order to equip sports coaches and physical education teachers with the knowledge that they need to provide professional training and exercise services to these individuals. Developing exercise package and measuring their effectiveness has been one of the main themes of my past research efforts. Over the years, my colleagues and I have researched on and developed guidelines for four disorders, namely intellectual disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down syndrome, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and have tested them on different populations so as to improve and expand the exercise packages based on the findings.
