ORCID is governed by an elected Board of Directors, majority non-profit, comprised of fourteen members of the global scholarly research community. Membership in the Board of Directors is drawn from and representative of ORCID member organizations. The Board is responsible for establishing general policies for the governance of ORCID, based on a set of core principles, among them openness and transparency. In addition to the Board of Directors, ORCID has steering and working groups open to the research community.

Laurel L. Haak, Executive Director. Laure drives awareness of the ORCID mission, building strategic relationships, working with a broad range of constituents, ensuring organizational persistence, and directing ORCID staff and contractors. Previously, Laure was Chief Science Officer at Discovery Logic, Inc.; a program officer for the US National Academies' Committee on Science, Engineering, and Public Policy; and editor of Science's Next Wave Postdoc Network at the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Laure received a BS and an MS in Biology from Stanford University and a PhD in Neuroscience in 1997 from Stanford University Medical School, and she was a postdoc at the US National Institutes of Health.
Josh Brown, Regional Director, Europe. Josh directs the operations of ORCID EU. He works with stakeholders across Europe to support understanding and engagement, and promote adoption of ORCID. Before ORCID, Josh was consortium and operations manager for SCOAP3, programme manager for digital infrastructure at Jisc, project offer for SHERPA-LEAP at University College London, and held positions in the library at the University of Brighton and the University of Sussex. He earned an MA in Information Management from the University of Brighton and a BA in Philosophy and English from the University of Sussex.
Liz Krznarich, Member Services. Liz is committed to helping all ORCID members receive excellent support and training resources in her position as member support liaison. Before joining ORCID, Liz served as manager of student technology training at the University of Wisconsin Division of IT, librarian at the University of Wisconsin Center for Limnology, and account manager at Food Concepts, Inc. Liz earned BS and MLIS degrees from the University of Wisconsin, and has a range of experience in academic libraries, technology training, and web/graphic design.
Alice Meadows, Communications Director. Alice develops and implements our communications plan, in order to broaden awareness of the organization and its services and programs and support adoption by key stakeholders and audiences. She is in charge of our publications, social media strategy, and our Ambassadors program, and she supports our Communications Steering Group (orcid.org/about/community). Previously, Alice served in multiple posts at John Wiley & Sons, most recently as Director of Communications. Alice earned a BSc with Honors in Anthropology from University College London.
Laura Paglione, Technical Director. Laura directs the technical development of of new features and improvements to the Registry and our APIs, management of ORCID’s open source code and community, technical infrastructure, and member and end-user support. She engages with the ORCID community through the Technical Steering Group, ORCID webinars, and participation in partner working groups and conferences. Previously, she was a Director at the Kauffman Foundation, held positions at Ford Motor Company and Avid Technology and several start-up companies. Laura earned an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, a ScM in Computer Science at Brown University, and a BE from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Rob Peters, Lead Developer. Rob leads the day-to-day management of software development at ORCID. He manages our technology stack (Java/PostgreSQL) and agile development processes, ensures that our technology infrastructure is stable and scalable to support Registry growth, all while making large code contributions across every level of the stack. He has held CTO, software architect, and engineering positions at large scale data-drive startups including Enloop, Credit.com, and TransUnion. Rob has an AA in Mathematics from Reedley Community College and studied computer science at Cal Poly.
Claudia Soriano, Operations Manager. Claudia is ORCID’s operations manager. She oversees ORCID’s back office functions, including accounting and invoicing, event planning, human resources, payroll, and membership renewals. Claudia is fluent in English and Spanish. Prior to joining ORCID, Claudia was operations manager at Management Leadership for Tomorrow. Claudia is a Notary Public and holds an AA in Criminal Justice and a BS in Public Administration from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY.
Catalina Wilmers, Lead, Member Services. Catalina heads up member services for ORCID. She works closely with members to support their implementation of ORCID identifiers and APIs. Before joining ORCID she worked as an academic librarian and archivist, where she enjoyed digitizing all sorts of things. In her free time she travels the world and reads B-list classical novels. Catalina earned a BA in History and Masters in Information Science from the University of Michigan.
Douglas Wright, Membership Director. Doug builds our global engagement capacity, managing our team of Regional Directors tasked with growing our membership and implementation through regional workshops and training programs. He supports our Business Steering Group (orcid.org/about/community), and collaborates with the communications and technical teams to ensure our members have the implementation tools they need. Prior to joining ORCID, Doug was an served as Director of the PCG Division and Chief Marketing Officer at Publishing Technology. He brings to ORCID a great deal of experience working with scholarly publishers as well as his global network of library and consortia contracts. Doug received a BA in Communications at the University of Alabama, and is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and English.
