Biography

Donald O. Case holds the Ph.D. in Communication Research from Stanford U. (1984) and the M.L.S. from Syracuse U. (1977). He held the post of Professor in the U. of Kentucky College of Communication & Information 1994-2014, and was Director of the SLIS for three years. Before joining UK Case was a faculty member at the U. of California, Los Angeles, from 1983 to 1994. During 1989 he received a Fulbright Fellowship to Portugal, and during 2011 a Fulbright Specialist award to Finland.
Case’s research interests include information behavior, health information seeking, and information policy. He is the author of over 50 journal articles on these and other topics. Case’s book, “Looking for Information: A Survey of Research on Information Seeking, Needs, and Behavior” (2002) was given the “Best Book of the Year” Award by the American Society for Information Science & Technology. A fifth edition of “Looking” will appear in 2023. He is also co-author of the book "Health Information Seeking" (2012).
