Biography
Assoc.-Prof. Priv.-Doz. Dr. Dipl.-Biol.Gaby Sroczynski, M.P.H., is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Public Health, Medical Decision Making and Health Technology Assessment, Department of Public Health, , Health Services Research and Health Technology Assessment at UMIT TIROL – University for Health Sciences and Technology in Hall in Tirol, Austria. She is also the Head of the Program on Decision Analysis and is in charge of the supervision and methodological education in decision-analytic modelling in all modelling projects at the Institute.
Assoc.-Prof. Sroczynski holds a Doctoral degree in Public Health from the School of Public Health at the University of Bielefeld, Germany, as well as a Master degree in Public Health with concentration in Biostatistics and Epidemiology from the School of Public Health and Epidemiology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich. She also holds a Master degree in Biology from the University of Constance in Germany. Before she started her position at UMIT TIROL in 2005, Assoc.-Prof. Sroczynski was a Research Scientist at the MGH Institute for Technology Assessment (2004 – 2005) and completed her Visiting Research Scholarship at the Harvard Center for Risk Analysis, Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, MA, USA (2001 – 2003). She also worked as a Research Scientist at the Bavarian Public Health Research and Coordinating Center at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, and the Parkinson-Competence Network at the University of Marburg, Germany.
Her research interests include applying advanced methods in health data & health decision science in the context of public health comprising the application of data analytics, decision analysis, simulation, meta-analysis, benefit-harm and cost-effectiveness analysis, and quality-of-life research in the framework of clinical guideline development, health technology assessment, and patient information.
Assoc.-Prof. Sroczynski’s current substantive research focuses on cancer prevention and infectious diseases including HPV, hepatitis C, and SARS-CoV-2 as well as on health-related and health-economic consequences of climate change. Her methodological research is focused on health data and health decision science including decision-analytic modelling, prevention and screening, as well as quantitative methods in evidence-based medicine, and health technology assessment.
She has authored more than 50 publications including HTA reports, textbook chapters, and scientific articles and achieved the 2012 Scientific Award of the German Society for Health Economics (DGGÖ) for the best publication of the year. Furthermore, she achieved several national and international scientific poster awards.
Priv.-Doz. Dr. Sroczynski is an active member of the Working Group "Medical Decision Making" of the German Society for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS) and a member of the Working Group "Infectious Disease Epidemiology" of the German Society for Epidemiology (DGEpi). She is also a member of the German Scientific Working Group Health Technology Assessment, the German Society for Health Economics (DGGÖ), the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR), and the Society for Medical Decision Making (SMDM).
