Biography

Dr. Zhi Li was born in Mianyang, Sichuan, China, in July 1986. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Southwest Jiaotong University in 2009. Subsequently, he pursued his master's and doctoral studies at Hunan University. In 2011, he was awarded the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship to study at Sapienza University of Roma, where he completed his Ph.D. (Dottorato di Ricerca) in 2015.

From February 2015 to June 2016, Dr. Li served as a postdoctoral researcher at Sapienza University of Roma. He then joined Nanjing Tech University as an Assistant Professor from June 2016 to August 2020. From 2021 to 2023, he held the position of Associate Research Professor, and is currently a Research Professor in the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture at Zhejiang University.

Dr. Li's primary research interests include modern bamboo and timber structures, bio-composite materials, and their probabilistic characteristics. He has authored or co-authored over 50 international journal papers on these topics. Additionally, he serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) on more than 10 research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSF China) and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST).
