Biography
Maria Luisa Polignano received her degree in physics in 1978 from the Genoa University. In 1979 she joined ST Microelectronics in Agrate Brianza as a process engineer. In 1985 she moved to the Physics and Material Characterization Group and since then she is involved in problems related to mechanical stress and crystal defects in devices, implantation-induced defects, metal contamination and gettering techniques. In 2003 she became a member of the ST Technical Staff as a Material Characterization Expert. In 2008 she moved to Numonyx and in 2010 to Micron. In 2013 she moved back to ST, still involved in the same subjects, and was appointed Senior Member of the ST Technical Staff. In October 2017 she retired from her ST employment.
M.L. Polignano published more than 130 papers, obtained three patents and participated in various EC financed cooperation programs. In the year 2000 she was a contract professor at the post-degree School in Material Science of the Parma University. In the years 2014 and 2018 she was a lecturer in the PhD Summer School on Defects in Semiconductors at the Ghent University. In the year 2017 she cooperated in the PhD School “Semiconductor trip: from a simple idea to a complex manufacturing » at the Information Engineering Department of Pisa University.
