Biography
Natalie Silmon de Monerri MBiol PhD obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of Bath, where she studied towards an integrated Masters of Biology degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She went on to study the importance of proteases and perforin-like proteins in malaria parasite egress from infected erythrocytes at the MRC National Institute for Medical Research and was awarded her PhD from University College London in 2010. She conducted her postdoctoral training in the United States at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she is currently a 4th year research fellow. There, she studies the function of posttranslational modifications in transcriptional and epigenetic control in the protozoan parasite Toxoplasma gondii, using a combination of proteomics, genome-wide studies and classical molecular genetics techniques.
Dr. Silmon de Monerri is an expert in microbiology and parasitology. She has specific expertise in molecular parasitology of Plasmodium falciparum and Toxoplasma gondii, and other Apicomplexan parasites. She has extensive experience in proteomics of posttranslational modifications including identification of protease substrates and mapping of posttranslational modifications.
