Biography

Eva D'Hondt (°14/01/1985) was born in Ghent, Belgium. She graduated as a Master in Physical Education and Movement Sciences at Ghent University (UGent) in 2007 and obtained her PhD on "Motor competence in overweight and obese children" at the same university in May 2011. As of November 2011, she combined her postdoctoral carreer in Ghent with a part-time professorship at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Since November 2014, she is a full-time professor at the Faculty of Physical Education and Physiotherapy (LK) teaching several courses to Bachelor and Master students in both educational programs. Since 2016, she is co-chair of the Physical Activity and Nutrition UGent-VUB alliance research group. Since 2020, she is head of the Movement and Nutrition for Health and Performance (MOVE) reserach group at the Department of Movement and Sport Sciences (BESW) at the VUB, Belgium. Her research interests cover the domains of body composition, growth and maturation as well as motor and energy-balance related behavior in relation to general and more specific aspects of health among different target populations (e.g. (obese) children, (elite) youth athletes, elderly).
