Biography

Professor Pauline Calleja's research focuses include clinical teaching and learning, emergency and trauma care, rural and remote practice and clinical practice change with a specific focus on information transfer, handover and documentation, and transition to practice.

Professor Calleja has an extensive and varied clinical and teaching background, but counts her clinical specialty as emergency nursing and has worked in a number of Australian Emergency Departments as well as in North America. She has been a Director of Nursing at a rural health hub in central west Queensland where she was responsible for a number of facilities, but provided direct clinical and facility management at Barcaldine. Her other clinical areas of experience include ophthalmics (including operating theatres and clinics), general practice, rural and remote, immunisation program endorsement, and community nursing including hospital in the home.
