Biography
Bernardete Dias Sequeira holds a PhD in Sociology (University of Évora), an Msc in Organization and Information Systems (University of Évora) and a BA in Sociology (University of Évora). She is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Algarve (Portugal). She is director of the Degree in Sociology at this institution and an integrated member of the Research Centre for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being – Cin Turs. Sequeira is also a collaborator researcher of Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences – CICS.NOVA. She has participated in 11 research projects. Currently, she is a researcher in the project “INCULTUM - Visiting the Margins. Innovative Cultural Tourism in European peripheries” (funded by the European Union under the Horizon 2020 Programme) and recently she was a researcher in the project “TurExperience - Tourist experiences' impacts on the destination image: searching for new opportunities to the Algarve” (SAICT-ALG/39588/2018); and the “Field Study in Portugal and Spain” as part of the “Securhome Programme - Detection of behavioral changes in elderly people through non-invasive IoT (internet of things) with AI systems”, which is funded by the International Center on Aging (CENIE), INTERRREG V-A Spain-Portugal Cooperation Program (POCTEP) 2014-2020. She has experience in supervising and evaluating master dissertations, working on topics related to Hospitality, Tourism and Society, Sociology of Organizations and Human Resources Management. She has published articles in scientific journals and international book chapters. She teaches courses in Research Methodology in the degree of Sociology and the Master of Marketing Management. She also teaches Sociology of Organizations and Work in the degree in Sociology and Society Knowledge and Organizations in the master's degree in Sociology. Additionally, she presented several communications in conferences and participated in scientific conference committees. Her current research interests include Sociology of Organizations and Work, Tourism, Knowledge Management and Sociology of Knowledge.
