Biography

Arantxa Blázquez Prunera studied Biology at the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF). During her degree she collaborated with the Neurophar group of UPF, where she studied the relation between THC administration and the expresion of different brain proteins. Moreover, she performed an internship at the pharmaceutical company Ferrer Internacional, where she collaborated with the Farmacology and Safety Department. There, she set up different assays to evaluate the genotoxicity and hepatotoxicity of different compounds.

After finishing her degree she decided to move to Sweden and study a Master in Molecular Biology at the University of Skövde. There she could deepen on different molecular techniques and performed a study to evaluate the possibility of measuring oxitocin in saliva.

In 2013 she started a Doctorate at the University of Porto, Portugal. This is a FP7 Marie Curie Initial Training Network (IB2 - Industrial Biological Biomaterials Doctorate) programme which objective is to join academia and industry. Arantxa developed her work at the Instituto Nacional de Engenheria Biomedica (INEB, Porto) and the pharmaceutical company Grifols (Spain). She and her colleagues developed a new xeno-free medium for the culture of human mesenchymal stem cells. Arantxa defended her thesis on December 2017.

From 2017 she is working at Lipotrue, a company that develops new active ingredients for cosmetics. At Lipotrue Arantxa is the responsible of the Safety and Efficacy department.

On 2017 Arantxa joined the start up Cubiq Foods. Her aim was to isolate and develop a new duck stem cell line to produce high quality fat for in vitro food.

On 2020 Arantxa joined the Pharmaceutical company Reig Jofre as Quality Control Manager of the biotech lab. She was encharged of the analysis of raw material and final product.

From 2021 Arantxa is also professor of Cell culture at Institut Bonanova.
