Biography
Núria Serrano was born in 1977. Since 2019 she is Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Chemistry, University of Barcelona, Spain. In 2007 she completed the Ph.D. at the same University. As a postdoctoral researcher, she worked for one year at the Department of Chemistry (Masaryk University, Brno) in 2010; and she spent nine months at the Sensors and Biosensors group (Autonomous University of Barcelona, Bellaterra) in 2013. Since 2022 NS is a member of the Governing Board of the Water Research Institute of UB. Her research is mainly focussed on: (i) the development of sensors and voltammetric electronic tongues, based on screen-printed electrodes, for the determination of heavy metals, pharmaceutical products and organic UV filters in environmental samples; and (ii) the use of electronic tongues and HPLC with UV-vis and/or amperometric detection with SPE for the characterization, identification and authentication of foods by using either the concentration of relevant substances or the profile derived from groups of analytes.
