Isabel Almeida has PhD in History - Ancient History, by NOVA FCSH (2015), a Masters in History - specialization field in Ancient Civilizations of Asia and Middle East, and a Bachelor’s Degree in History, minor in Asian History.
She is an Assistant Professor of the History department of NOVA FCSH, where she teaches curricular units and MA seminars related to Ancient Middle East, History of Religions and History of Asia. She is supervising master’s dissertation in the same subjects.
Since 2015 she is vice director of the Executive Committee of CHAM- Centre for Humanities, NOVA FCSH & UAc, where she coordinates the Multimedia Project.
As an integrated researcher of CHAM, she participated in several projects related to the Portuguese Expansion. This allowed her to cross two fields of research: History of the Middle Eastern Religions and the Portuguese presence in the Orient, which impelled her to develop work on the Reception of Antiquity.
Presently, her research revolves around History of Religion, Ideas and Culture, History of Women and Reception Studies.
