Biography
I am a PhD candidate in Applied Mathematics at Arizona State University. My current research involves using a causal inference approach for validating speech metrics as surrogate outcomes for neurological disease endpoints. Past work during my PhD includes developing a Bayesian decision theory framework for designing computerized adaptive tests to assess risk of juvenile delinquency, a joint work with the ASU Center for Violence Prevention and Community Safety; a publication is currently in preparation. Having come from a pure mathematics background, I chose to switch to applied mathematics and statistics in order to tackle challenging and relevant problems in the real world, in particular using statistical machine learning methods. I plan to pursue a career in biotech or health technology following my graduation.
