Sergei Filippov graduated from All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK), Department of Film Studies (1997) and the postgraduate studies (2000). PhD on Art Studies (2017).
He is now a research fellow at the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Faculty of Journalism. He is teaching film history at the faculty from 2001 and has been lecturing in various high schools in Moscow.
The main point of his professional interest is film theory and film aesthetics, namely, cognitive and communicative foundations of film language and relationships of the latter with film history, film techniques and other visual arts.
